Christmas Celebration

This Christmas, we were able celebrate at our new house! My mom and Ed, Mike’s mom and Mike’s dad all came to celebrate. Being in our first home this Christmas was extra special. Unfortunately, I am terrible at remembering to take photos, so I only got a few of the food before we all dug in!

Here is what was on the menu:

I hope you had a Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas

For the holidays this year, we are celebrating with the entire family in our new house. Mike’s mother and father will be in town as well as my mom and Ed. In order to get prepared to host, I did some holiday decorating. I managed to purchase a tree, strap it to the roof of the car and get it into the house by myself this year because Mike was out of town. I added a few other festive touches to the living room.

I am still looking for a coffee table to replace our worn out ottoman, but I was able to swing a new rug before the new year. It was a steal on Amazon and is soft and goes well in the space.

The Master (only) Bedroom

I finally got around to taking photos of the bedroom to share with you. Although, like much of the rest of the house, we are not done, but it is done enough!

The furniture in our bedroom is the first bedroom furniture we bought as a married couple. It came from Scandinavian Designs and has been moved a few times. Lucky for us, it fit in our new place. The two wicker trunks at the foot of the bed hold our laundry and extra linens. The bedspread is a new purchase from World Market.

If you remember, we also put in a closet storage unit to take advantage of every inch. This is the finished product. Mike’s favorite feature is the pull out ironing board. I purchased this bad boy from Amazon and although I wanted it to fit in the drawer, it didn’t. However, it is very functional.

As far as projects left in the bedroom, Mike will be making window sills to fancy the place up a bit. We need to make an access ladder to the storage above the closet as well as find some doors or vintage windows to cover the opening. This storage space is great because it holds all our gear including climbing stuff, backpacking equipment and our skiing stuff. Right now it is difficult to get to because we have to use our giant ladder, but our plan is to create a library ladder that will allow for easier access.
