As we approach our one year anniversary of closing on our tiny stout home, I find myself feeling very fortunate for a number of reasons:
- The price of housing has continued to rise. With a low interest, low principle mortgage we have extra money to have fun.
- Mike and I made it through an entire remodel without killing each other. Actually, our relationship is stronger than ever.
- I started going to a new gym close to our tiny stout home and I love the community. I am stronger and faster.
- I walk or bike to work on most days. I enjoy the outdoors daily on my three mile round trip.
- Our neighborhood is bustling with new bars, restaurants, coffee shops, retail shops and breweries within walking distance. It is perfect for a low key evening or afternoon study session.
- We have kind neighbors. Living in close quarters, someone is likely to get on your nerves, but our neighbors are pleasant and mostly keep to themselves.
- We are always learning. Mike calls this house, “our mistake house,” because we have made some mistakes, but we have learned a lot along the way too.
After reviewing some of my blog posts from the past, I figured it would be appropriate to provide you with an update!
My fiddle-leaf fig tree is doing well. This spring I repotted the tree and cleaned its leaves with soap and water to remove any potential fungus. I am happy to say that it has some new leaves!
I was able to order replacement parts for our bedroom ceiling fan that was broken during the painting of the storage attic. After two weeks without a fan in the bedroom, we are now cool again.
The project list is getting shorter, although have come to terms with the fact that projects never end. However, I will be starting a doctoral program in a few weeks, so I have a feeling the projects will slow to a crawl except during school vacations.
